The brother of former Westlife Star Shane Filan, Finbarr, is on the hunt for a Dail seat and has announced he will stand in the General Election in the Sligo/Leitrim constituency.
The first-time politician is a business man in Sligo and both Finbarr and Shane were jointly involved in a property development company with Shafin Developments, which went into receivership in 2012.
Shane subsequently filed for bankruptcy in the UK and is now back living in Sligo and working on his solo music career.
Finbarr, who will be a candidate for the Renua party has been bigging up his chances saying "I believe I have the character, personality, ability and life experience to win a seat".
If elected Finbarr won't be the only TD to have a famous sibling from the world of entertainment. Fine Gael's Eoghan Murphy is a brother of Love/Hate actor Killian Scott. Killian changed his name to avoid confusion with the Cork-born Hollywood star.
