Taylor Swiftly backs down over Minaj row

Taylor Swift says she misunderstood Minaj's argument

Taylor Swift has apologised to Nicki Minaj after the pair's recent Twitter spat about the MTV awards, saying she missed the point.

Swift accused Minaj of pitting "women against each other" after the rapper highlighted the apparent race problem in the music industry and complained in a series of tweets that black women were being ignored in the nominations.

Thinking the conversation was aimed at her, Swift tried to stand up for herself and even invited Minaj on stage with her should she win. However she was heavily criticised for getting involved in a conversation that was about bigger things than individual artists.

Taylor has now apologised and said she misunderstood Minaj's argument.

Swift leads the way with nine VMA nominations, including video of the year for Bad Blood. Minaj, whose raunchy track Anaconda is nominated for best hip-hop video and best female video, had complained it had missed out on the video of the year category.

It seems the pair have now kissed and made up after Minaj accepted her apology and asked everyone to move on with their lives.

The VMAs take place on August 30, hosted by Miley Cyrus, so even though calm has been restored there's plenty of opportunity for more 'bad blood' before then.
