Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless has denied that the show is about to be rebooted – despite earlier reports to the contrary.
The actress, who played the eponymous star for six seasons back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, has dashed hopes of a revival of the popular show saying reports of a reboot as just "wishful thinking".
The reports suggested that Lawless would reprise the title role alongside a younger female lead. She has long been a supporter of revisiting Xena: Warrior Princess, and called for a movie back in 2010.
Lucy Lawless has dashed rumours of a Xena reboot
She wrote on Twitter: "Sorry, friends! news of a #Xena reboot is just a rumour. I'd love it to happen one day but it's still in the wishful thinking stage."
Lawless publicly rallied for a revival at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, and added that she would want Sam Raimi - an executive producer on the original show - to be a part of it.
