Hit RTÉ comedy series Damo & Ivor – about stereotypical middle and working class Dubs - is to be made into a movie by Parrallel Films.
The script will be written by Andy Quirke and Jules Coll, who also wrote the television series.
Quirke is the brother of Rosanna Davison's husband Wesley and plays both lead characters, northsider Damo and southsider Ivor, a pair of twins who were separated at birth. Their mother couldn't afford to raise them so she sold Ivor to a wealthy Foxrock couple, while Damo was raised by his working class grandmother played by Ruth McCabe.
After the duo's debut in a slot on Republic of Telly, RTÉ2 commissioned a full series. Damo and Ivor began airing in 2013 and proved to be a massive hit for the station.
It's not the first RTÉ comedy to be adapted for the big screen. The Hardy Bucks Movie was released two years ago and followed the lads as they travel to Poland to support the Irish football team during the Euro 2012 football tournament.
Mrs Brown also enjoyed success on the big screen last year, with Mrs Brown D'Movie becoming one of the most successful Irish releases of all time. So no bleedin' pressure there lads!
