Irish rockers Kodaline performed a gig with a difference today from Ireland's very own Alcatraz - Spike Island off the Cork coast.
The intimate show took place place in front of 100 fans at the former prison site and was beamed worldwide on Vodafone's 4G network on Twitter via Periscope from midday.

The band, who are just fresh from a sell-out gig at the Galway International Arts Festival on Saturday, tweeted fans this morning as they set off for the Spike Island performance.

Spike Island, near Cobh, was previously used a detention for juvenile offenders in the 1980s and almost twenty years ago inmates staged an infamous riot at the prison in August 1985, with one of the cell-blocks destroyed in the process. Today's gig should hopefully be a much less rowdy affair!

The gig was available on #Periscope on Twitter from 12 noon today. Keep an eye out on TEN tomorrow for more footage of the gig.
