The search is on for a new co-star for Chris O'Dowd in the Nicole Holofcener film Can You Ever Forgive Me? after Oscar winner Julianne Moore left the project a week before shooting was about to begin.

US trade daily Variety claims that Moore left Enough Said director Holofcener's drama due to creative differences.

The film is based on the 2008 book Can You Ever Forgive Me? Memoirs of a Literary Forger by Lee Israel.

Israel was a writer who sold letters she had forged from those of deceased actors and authors.

When doubts were raised about the legitimacy of the letters, Israel began stealing the real letters from archives.

In 1993 she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport stolen property and was placed under house arrest for six months. Israel died last year.

Holofcener, whose other credits include Orange is the New Black, Parks and Recreation, Please Give and Sex and the City, has also written the script for Can You Ever Forgive Me?.
