Love/Hate's Aoibhinn McGinnity has landed a part in HBO series Quarry, a new drama based on a series of novels written by Max Allan Collins.

The show will centre on a man who returns home from Vietnam after serving in the Marines and finds himself becoming a professional sniper.

McGinnity, the 28-year-old Monaghan actress who shot to fame as Nidge’s wife Trish in RTÉ drama Love/Hate, will play the love interest of one of the gang leaders in the US series.

“The show stars Logan Marshall-Green, Peter Mullan and Jodi Balfour and is being made by Cinemax for HBO", a source told the Irish Mirror.

“It has already been green-lit for eight episodes.”

Quarry is set to air in early 2016 and is currently filming in New Orleans and Tennessee.
