Novelist Jonathan Franzen, winner of the National Book Award for the bestseller The Corrections, will appear at ILFDublin's Off the Page series on October 5 at the RDS Concert Hall. His reading will begin at 8.00pm.

The author of four novels and five works of non-fiction and translations, including Farther Away and Freedom, Franzen has the distinction of being the first novelist on Time magazine's cover in 20 years.

Franzen will be speaking about his forthcoming fifth novel, Purity - due September - which is centred on college graduate Pip Tyler (real name 'Purity') who tries to establish the identity of her father. Through an internship with the Sunlight Project in Bolivia, Pip is drawn into a complex web of activism and idealism.
