Jennifer Lawrence has lined up her next big movie role in a rom-com called The Rosie Project.

The Oscar-winning actress, who has proven herself a sure-fire hit at the box office, is attached to star in the "romantic dramedy" which is being developed at Columbia Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is an adaptation of a Graeme Simsion novel and follows a socially awkward genetics professor who develops a scientifically sound survey to find the perfect mate. However, his notions get turned on their head when he meets Rosie Jarman (Lawrence) who has all of the opposite qualities he should be looking for.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who penned 500 Days of Summer, have written the script for the project, which is yet to find a director.

Lego filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had been attached to direct but they had to bow out when they took on the young Hans Solo Star Wars movie.
