Iron Maiden win Silver Clef Award

Veteran British metallers Iron Maiden won an outstanding contribution to UK music at last night's Silver Clef Awards in London.

The awards, which are now in their 40th year, raise funds for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins. Also honoured were Rita Ora, Kasabian, Mark Ronson and Jake Bugg.

Speaking of their win, Iron Maiden said: "Nordoff Robbins is an exceptional charity and their dedication to changing people's lives through music therapy is something we all very much support. We're extremely proud to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award and be part of the 40th anniversary event celebrating this wonderful achievement."

Mark Ronson won the American Express Innovation Award and cat in a hat James Bay took home a gong for the Jack Daniel's Best Newcomer. Duran Duran were also awarded the Spotify Lifetime Achievement Award, and cosmic rockers Kasabian were honoured with the Royal Albert Hall Best Group Award.
