Wimbledon 2015 began at 11.30am on BBC Two and there's been coverage on BBC One also since 1.45pm. Independents’ Day (9.35pm RTÉ One) looks at our new-ish crop of independent politicians and their chances in the next General Election, while Gotham concludes at 9.00pm on RTÉ 2.

Begins 11.30am BBC Two
Sue Barker brings live coverage of the opening day of the Wimbledon 2015 Championship, kicking off 13 days of tennis coverage from Auntie Beeb. Novak Djokovic will begin the defence of the title he won on Centre Court in an epic final against Roger Federer. After a surprise quarter-final exit last year Great Britain’s Andy Murray will be looking to win back the title he won in 2013. Live Wimbledon coverage can also be seen from 1.45pm to 6pm on BBC One. Wimbledon 2Day a new addition to the Beeb’s Wimbledon coverage, ‘celebrity guests’ – whoever they are- join Clare Balding for a look back at that day’s action. Clare’s special guests will provide in-depth discussion and analysis as they take questions from a live audience. Wimbledon 2Day is on every evening this week at 8.30pm on BBC Two.

Across the country, politicians are starting to gear up for the General Election. They all want your vote and many want to govern. But the face of Irish politics is starting to change: hoping to cash in on a wave of support for independents and others, many of the formerly independent TDs in the Dáil are coming together to form alliances and even new parties. This much-anticipated documentary asks what role these groups will play in a new Dáil. Presenter Pat Leahy (pictured) investigates just who are the independents. Why have we seen a surge in favour of them in opinion polls over recent years? Why are they now deciding to coalesce? And crucially, how, if elected, would they govern our country?
