Tommy Tiernan is returning to the airwaves this weekend with a new four-part weekly chat show on RTÉ 2fm.

The live Saturday show will see Tommy interview guests before an audience, with the added twist that he won't know their identity before they walk on stage.

The comedian will hopefully be expecting a better reaction to his on-stage spontaneity after opinion was divided following the documentary Tommy: To Tell You The Truth which was broadcast on RTÉ last year. It charted the travails of his European tour during which he completely improvised all the material.

Tommy is promising lots of "unpredictable fun" on the new radio show and said  “one of the great things about the old Late Late Show was not knowing who the guests were until they appeared on screen.....so I just thought well how would it be if the host didn’t know who they were until they walked out either".

The lunchtime show will be broadcast from The Sugar Club in Dublin and audience tickets (to a maximum of four per person) can be applied for by sending an email to tommy@rte.ie.

The final show in the series will take place on Saturday 25th July in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens in association with the Vodafone Comedy Festival.

Tommy is no stranger to RTÉ 2fm and previously presented a hilarious weekend show with his friend Hector Ó hEochagáin.
