Having given us one of the most beguiling records of 2015 with her debut album, Before We Forgot How to Dream, effortlessly laidback singer-songwriter SOAK has told TEN that she was still a little nervous that people would be disappointed.
"The idea of disappointing people in any way kind of scares me," the Derry teenager said when discussing the making of the album with TEN.
But there was no need to worry. The album has received widespread acclaim and cements SOAK's – real name Bridie Monds-Watson – position as one of the best new talents in music, with its creator even going as far as to say she is "quite proud of it".
"I just write about what I feel like I have to discuss personally, or something I feel I have to work out," she told TEN.
"For me, if I sing and play and write it all down it's easier to understand it personally."
As for the album's title, she said: "It's defining of a time before people have to provide for themselves as an independent person - when you're grown up and have to pay for your own food, your own housing and things like that."
She added: "Before We Forgot How to Dream – before people have to give up some of their dreams to provide for themselves, and get old."
