The John Murray Show on RTÉ Radio 1 will come to an end on July 3 after five years on air. Murray will return in the autumn and will continue to broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 in a brand new role.
Brendan O’Connor will present the 9.00am slot on Radio 1 for the month of July.
Murray said: "It has been a pleasure and a privilege to present the show for the last 5 years. I want to thank everyone who worked on the programme in that period but most of all I want to thank the listeners for their support and for making it all worthwhile.
"One of the highlights for me was the walks we did which brought us to communities all over Ireland. I am looking forward to returning in the autumn to a new role with the station."
The John Murray Show began broadcasting in 2010 with a mix of serious and light content, ranging from politics, science, celebrity interviews, national and international news stories.
The show partnered the popular TV series Operation Transformation. The show was also known to support Irish music and over the past two years and teamed up with the Saturday Night Show to host one of the biggest music competitions ever for emerging artists.
