Rapper Diddy, real name Sean Combs, has released a statement addressing his alleged assault on his son's football coach, saying the "accounts of the events and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate".
The statement came via a representative for the singer. It reads: "The various accounts of the events and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate."
It continues: "What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed."
The alleged incident is reported to have involved a kettlebell at the athletic facilities of UCLA and took place after a coach allegedly yelled at Diddy's son Justin, who is a defensive back on the college American football team.
Following the alleged altercation, Diddy was transferred to the Los Angeles County Jail where bail was set at $160,000.
The star was freed late on Monday (June 22) after posting bail, several hours after his arrest.
In a statement the college said "we will let the legal process run its course" and added it would be making no further comment.
