Susan Loughnane of Love/Hate and Fair City’s Aoibheann McCaul will star as love interests in the new series of Hardy Bucks

Filming on six new episodes of the show has begun in Swinford, Co Mayo and the wild men of Irish comedy are due back on screens this Autumn, dreaming big dreams and drinking them all away in the fictional village of Castletown.

All the gang are back, Martin Maloney as Eddie Durkan, Chris Tordoff as The Viper, and Owen Colgan as Buzz McDonnall - and in-between the usual mayhem and bad behaviour, the lads get caught up in a Mayo love triangle.

The Viper is nursing a broken heart whilst running his new business venture, Viper's Vapours. Eddie and Buzz may or may not have met the women of their dreams, Frenchtoast may or may not be back on the sauce and Boo and Koffi may or may not be getting married.

Hardy Bucks Producer and Director Mike Cockayne commented: “It’s great to be back filming again, we’re like family now and I really feel that this series will be the best yet. The lads are all on top form and the biggest challenge we’re going to face is fitting all of this great material into a half hour.”

Hardy Bucks won StoryLand, RTÉ’s drama competition, in 2009 and the web series became an online phenomenon and an instant word-of-mouth favourite.

In autumn 2010, RTÉ2 brought the online adventures of Eddie Durkan and company to a new and wider audience in a three-part Hardy Bucks serial.

This was followed by a Christmas special and second series of six episodes in November 2011. Last year, Hardy Bucks The Movie followed the gang of slackers from the west of Ireland as they set out on a last minute road trip to watch their national football team compete in the 2012 European Championships in Poland.
