Florence + the Machine will replace Foo Fighters at this year’s Glastonbury festival after original headliners Foo Fighters were forced to cancel after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg.
Florence Welch and her band - who have been sitting pretty at the top of the US Billboard charts with their new album - will top the bill on the Friday night at the Somerset event.
Emily Eavis of the Glastonbury festival said that while she was disappointed about the Foo Fighters’ cancellation there was “only one person we wanted to call, and that was Florence”.
“Every time [Florence Welch] has played here she has done something spectacular, " Eavis said. "And we always knew she would headline the Pyramid stage one day. I’m delighted she is going to step up to it - she’s going to smash it!”
So happy Florence is going to step up to headline Friday night, she’s going to smash it!— Emily Eavis (@emilyeavis) June 17, 2015
