1950s rock `n' roll throwback Shakin' Stevens has beaten Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey to be named Wales' greatest singer in an online poll conducted by BBC Radio Wales.
67-year-old Stevens, real name Michael Barratt, scored hits in the UK with cover versions of fifties classics such as Behind The Green Door and This Ole House in the early eighties.
Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield came second in the poll, while Welsh actor and singer John Owen Jones came third. Tom Jones and Bassey made fourth and fifth place respectively.
Speaking about the accolade, Stevens said: "The fact that it's a public vote means a lot to me, so a big thank you to the people who voted."
Radio Wales editor Steve Austins commented: "While I'm a little surprised at the outcome, the people of Wales have spoken and there is no doubting Shaky's contribution to British music history."
