Pitch Perfect 3, the sequel to this year's highly successful Pitch Perfect 2, has been announced with a release date of July 21, 2017 and the return of stars Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick.
Elizabeth Banks, who made her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, will produce alongside Max Handelman and Paul Brooks. It is not yet known if Banks will also return as director.
Universal Pictures is pursuing New Girl writer Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two films, to return for a second time. Returning star Kendrick took to Instagram to express her happiness at the announcement.
Pitch Perfect 2 opened in the USA in May of this year, grossing $69.2 million in its opening weekend, making it the biggest opening for a movie-musical ever.
