How I Met Your Mother creators sign deal with Sony

How I Met Your Mother creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have signed a three-year contract with Sony Pictures Television, which will see them write and produce new series for the studio.

Deadline reports that the deal will see the duo's Bays/Thomas Productions become a full-time production company and in addition to writing their own projects, they will oversee the work of other writers.

Bays and Thomas, who got their start as writers on The Late Show with David Letterman, took a year-long break from television last year after the wrapping of How I Met Your Mother's nine season run and the failure to attract a series order by spin-off, How I Met Your Dad.
