Stephen Fry and husband, Elliot Spencer's honeymoon in Honduras was ruined by homophobia, due to local resistance to homosexuality, says Spencer.
The 57-year-old actor and TV presenter Fry travelled with Elliott, his junior by 30 years, to the Central American country where gay marriage is banned.
"We had a problem when we visited Honduras on holiday," Spencer told the Daily Mail. "It was homophobia. I don’t want to go into detail, but we had to leave."
The couple announced their plans to honeymoon in Honduras following their secret wedding in Norfolk in January. "We’re delaying our honeymoon so I can relax for longer, Fry declared at the time. “We’re planning a huge adventure."
