Having been hailed as one of the best films at this year's Sundance Film Festival, the first trailer for The Stanford Prison Experiment has been released - watch it here.

Directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez, the film stars Billy Crudup, Ezra Miller, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Thirlby, Michael Angarano, Logan Miller and Thomas Mann.

It tells the story of the infamous psychological study at Stanford University in California in 1971, which looked at the psychological effects of being either a prisoner or a guard.

The Stanford Prison Experiment is released in the US on July 17, with Ireland and UK release dates yet to be announced.
