Jurassic World is on target to becoming the third-largest most successful movie in cinema history.
Including previews, the film raked in $82.8 million on its opening day on Friday (June 12), and Saturday estimates show that Jurassic World could be on its way to making upwards of $180 million in its opening weekend.
The figures show that the film has overtaken Marvel's The Avengers' opening and single day takings of $80 million in 2012 and claimed the third-highest box office total.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 holds the record as it took in $91 million in 2011, while earlier this year Marvel's The Avengers: Age of Ultron achieved $84.4 million.
If Jurassic World stays on track with these figures, the film is likely to break the previous record for the highest June release - held by 2013's Man of Steel, which made $116.6 million in its opening weekend.
It could also become the third-largest opening weekend in cinema history, behind The Avengers and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which took $207 million and $191 million in their respective opening weekends.
