Dublin director Brian O'Malley makes his feature directing debut with the Liam Cunningham-starring horror Let Us Prey, in cinemas from June 12. TEN met him to find out more about working with the Game of Thrones star – watch the interview here.

Shot largely in Galway, but set in a smalltown Scottish police station over the course of one night, Let Us Prey follows rookie officer Rachel Heggie's (Pollyanna McIntosh) baptism of fire. Down in the holding cells is Six (Liam Cunningham), a man whose records show died in 1983. He's not there by chance, and it's not long before he starts his war on the minds of all those around him.

Speaking to TEN about inspirations, O'Malley said: "I discovered John Carpenter when I was about 12 and somebody showed me Halloween. It absolutely terrified me, but I was mesmerised by it as well. It's always been a benchmark for me in horror."

He continued: "As horror became very big again in the Nineties I always went, 'Why are people not going back to what John Carpenter did?' Which was truly terrifying, but he didn't necessarily show you very much.

"So always in the back of my head, I thought, 'If I ever get the chance to do a horror, I'm going to try my best to make it much more about how you feel than how [what] you see'.

"Now, in this movie you see an awful lot, that's fair enough. But I went to great lengths to make sure it had an uncomfortable sort of feeling to it and that the visuals and the music placed you specifically in its own little world."
