Jaden Smith, the actor and musician son of Will Smith, has joined the cast of Great Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann's new musical drama for Netflix, The Get Down.
Smith will play the role of the psychedelic graffiti writer Marcus "Dizzee" Kipling in the series, set in the Bronx in the 1970s.
Luhrmann said that he was "very happy" that Smith had joined the cast, adding: "He (Smith) has begun developing his The Get Down skill set, even taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of Wild Style fame, as well as steeping himself in the history and culture of the Bronx"
Smith joins a host of cast members already announced, including Jimmy Smits, Herizen Guardiola and Shameik Moore.
