Dublin musician Damien Dempsey has joined the Dublin2020 campaign as part of the city's bid to be named European Capital of Culture for the year 2020.

Dempsey will record a song for the campaign, which will feature lines from Dublin-born poet W.B. Yeats' The Death of Cúchulainn. The song will be released on Saturday June 13, to coincide with Yeats' 150th birthday.

The video for the song will be shot on Friday June 12 and will feature numerous cultural locations in Dublin, such as Yeats' Cottage, the Writers Museum, the Abbey Theatre and the Martello Tower.
