The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal is to play Marvel vigilante The Punisher in the Netflix series Daredevil.
In a statement, Marvel's Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, said: "Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences."
The second season of the Charlie Cox-starring series will air on Netflix in 2016.
Bernthal has recently been filming the Irish action-thriller Pilgrimage, which is set in 13th-century Ireland and follows a group of monks as they embark on a journey to bring "their monastery's holiest relic to Rome".
