In a conversation with fans on Twitter, Harry Potter author JK Rowling has dropped hints about an American school of witchcraft and wizardry in the upcoming, Eddie Redmayne-starring Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

When Rowling was asked for the name of the US school she declined to reveal it but did say the name was of "immigrant origin".

She added that "indigenous magic was important in the founding of the school. If I say which tribes, location is revealed."

Rowling also said that the film's hero, Newt Scamander (Redmayne), would meet "people who were educated at [name] in [not New York]".

The film is set 70 years before the events in the Harry Potter series.
