The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean has announced that after 22 years of trying, Sideshow Bob will finally kill Bart Simpson.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly. Jean said that he had always wanted to see Wile E. Coyote catch the Road Runner in the classic cartoon series and that he "hated frustration comedy so we’ll scratch that itch."

Bob began his attempts to kill Bart in the 1993 episode Cape Feare, after Bart had foiled both his attempt to frame Krusty the Clown for armed robbery and his attempt to kill Selma Bouvier, Bart's aunt.

The death will take place in the annual Halloween special, meaning Bart's death will not be permanent; which should be a good thing for Bob, as Jean added that he won't know what to do with himself after successfully killing his nemesis.

In other - and possibly far more interesting - Simpsons news, Jean also confirmed that the breakout star of The Simpsons Movie, Spider-Pig, will return in the show's upcoming 27th season.
