The team members at Dublin Zoo are celebrating the birth of three red ruffed lemur babies. The new arrivals will make their TV debuts on The Zoo on RTÉ One on Thursday June 4 at 7.00pm.

Critically endangered, the lemurs' births are of great importance to the international breeding programme to protect the species, which is found in the wild in the rainforest in northeast Madagascar.

Team leader at Dublin Zoo Ciarán McMahon said: "Red ruffed lemurs are one of the most endangered of all lemurs. The birth of three babies at Dublin Zoo is hugely significant and definitely something to celebrate."

He continued: "We are delighted to report that our new arrivals are strong and healthy and are nosily exploring their habitat on red ruffed lemur island."
