Better Call Saul cleans up at Critics' Choice

Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul and new music business drama Empire were the big winners at the Critics' Choice Awards in Hollywood last night.

Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk and Empire's Taraji P. Henson, who plays Cookie, won the top prizes for Best Actor and Best Actress.

Outgoing host of The Daily Show Jon Stewart won best talk show, beating The Graham Norton Show, Jimmy Kimmel and The Late Late Show with James Corden to the honour.

Other winners last night included US cold war spy thriller The Americans and techie comedy Silicon Valley.

British actor and star of MLK movie Selma David Oyelowo won a best actor honour for Nightingale, a HBO movie about a troubled war veteran.
