Top Gear will return in a Have I Got News For You format with a different guest host every week, according to a report in a UK newspaper.
The motoring show was put on blocks earlier this year when the BBC declined to renew Jeremy Clarkson's contract after he assaulted his producer following an all-day shoot.
However, according to the London Independent, Clarkson's co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May have been offered £1m to continue their involvement with the show.
According to The Independent, a BBC source said: “The master-plan is to reconfigure the show along the lines of the post-Angus Deayton Have I Got News For You, with a different guest hosting each episode.
“Despite their pronouncements of loyalty to Clarkson, Hammond and May have taken the trouble not to resign in protest at his sacking . . . [and] have each been offered £1m a year to keep the Top Gear flame of inspired puerility alive.”
