San Andreas director Brad Peyton says his new action-adventure is the kind of movie he rushes to the theatre to see and promises that the movie-going experience is the real deal.
Speaking to TEN about what attracted him to the storyline, Peyton said: "The scale was attractive. The intimate family story was attractive. Designing a hero with Dwayne [Johnson] in a way that I've never seen him play a hero was really attractive.
"The movie had the promise and potential to really check all the boxes. This is the kind of movie that I go to see - 'the big event'. I love the theatre experience. I love seeing the biggest screen I can see, and this movie promises to fill that screen right up for two hours, and just give you a full experience."
San Andreas also stars Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Hugo Johnstone-Burt, Art Parkinson, Paul Giamatti, Ioan Gruffudd and Archie Panjabi.
It tells the story of a rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) in a race against time to save his estranged wife (Gugino) and their only daughter (Daddario) after a magnitude 9 earthquake.
San Andreas is in cinemas from Friday May 29.
