Charlene McKenna has landed a role in the upcoming The Clan of the Cave Bear pilot for the US network Lifetime.
According to Deadline, the Irish actress has been cast in the show which is based of the first of Jean M Auel's best-selling book series.
The script from Maleficient writer Linda Woolverton sees the drama take place over 25,000 years ago as Neanderthals shared the Earth with the first modern human beings.
A group of cave dwellers adopt Ayla (Millie Brady), who grows up to be a courageous young woman who must fight for survival against the jealous would-be clan leader Broud (Johnny Ward).
McKenna will play Iza, the clan's medicine woman and sister of its leader Brun (Hal Ozsan).
Pierre Morel (Taken, The Gunman) will direct The Clan of the Cave Bear which is set to air later in 2015 if it is picked up for a full series.
