Elton John has said he will play his last gig in Omaha on Saturday, October 3 as part of The Final Curtain Tour.
This will be the sixth time that Elton has performed in the Nebraska capital, since he first played there in April 1971.
While it may be the final gig in Omaha, the show isn't over for Dublin where he will be performing at the 3Arena on December 9.
The singer has played over 4,000 concerts in fifty years of writing and performing and he is now slowly bringing the curtain down, hence the tour title.
“The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family and less time touring,” said Elton. “I am all too aware of how precious the time ahead is.
"My sons are growing up so quickly, their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them. So this final Omaha concert will give me one last chance to say farewell to my fans here who have been so faithful over the decades.”
Elton’s band includes drummer Nigel Olsson, who was a member of his original three-piece band, as well as musical director Davey Johnstone who first recorded with Elton in 1971 and joined the band a year later.
The Final Curtain tour includes tracks from the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, recently re-issued, marking the 40th anniversary of its release.
