Eminem to provide soundtrack for boxing drama

It has been confirmed that rap superstar Eminem will provide the soundtrack for boxing drama Southpaw.

Eminem, who was originally rumoured to be playing the lead role in the movie, will release the album via his label, Shady Records, in July.

Shady Records president Paul Rosenberg told Billboard: "We have been involved in developing Southpaw since its inception and Eminem has dedicated himself to ensuring that this film captured his passion for the project through the music."

The lead single from the album will be Phenomenal which has been produced by DJ Khalil.

Jake Gyllenhall stars in Southpaw which tells the tale of a left-handed prize fighter who suffers a family tragedy after winning a big title. He is forced to put his life back together to earn the respect of his young daughter.

Rachel McAdams, 50 Cent, Rita Ora, Forest Whitaker and Naomie Harris also star in Southpaw  which will be released on July 24.
