Peter Sarsgaard has been linked to the villain role in the Magnificent Seven remake.
According to Variety, the actor is in final negotiations to take on the role of the bad guy in director Antoine Fuqua's (Training Day, Southpaw) reboot of the classic 1960 Steve McQueen-starring movie.
The film centred on seven gunslingers who protect a Mexican village from a group of outlaws, with Sarsgaard set to play a robber baron who runs the outlaws.
The all-star cast for the remake also includes Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Luke Grimes and Haley Bennett.
The script was originally drafted by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto and was recently reworked by John Lee Hancock.
