A biopic focusing on Ray and Dave Davis, the warring brothers who were the heart and soul of classic English band The Kinks, is being planned.

You Really Got Me is to be directed by veteran music film maker Julien Temple and will star Johnny Flynn (Clouds of Sils Maria)
and George Mackay (Pride) as the Cain and Abel of rock 'n' roll.

The film will be based on Ray and Dave's separate autobiographies and the script will be written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, who wrote British sitcoms The Likely Lads, Porridge, and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

Temple, who has previously made films about The Sex Pistols, Dr Feelgood, Paul Weller, and Cavan band The Strypes, told Screen magazine: "This is an exciting chance to tell The Kinks story in a visceral and real way.

"The lyrics of The Kinks have always been fascinating to me and there is an amazing human story here as well which has yet to be captured on film."
