The Dublin Theatre Festival has announced that The Night Alive will be among the flagship productions presented as part of its 2015 programme.

Written and directed by Irish playwright Conor McPherson, the production will star Adrian Dunbar (My Left Foot, The Crying Game), Kate Stanley Brennan (Dollhouse), Frank Grimes and Love/Hate's Laurence Kinlan and Ian Lloyd-Anderson.

The Night Alive tells the story of a fifty-something man who rescues a young prostitute from a beating on the street. A tentative friendship develops between the two, but trouble comes in the form of the prostitute's ex-boyfriend.

Speaking about the announcement, Dublin Theatre Festival and Chief Executive Willie White called McPherson "one of the most important dramatists working in the English language today".

The show will run from September 22 to 4 October 4 in Dublin's Gaiety Theatre. Tickets are on sale tomorrow (May 20) at 10.00am and are available from dublintheatrefestival.com.
