The Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final (8.00pm RTÉ 2) takes place tonight. (Ireland's entry - sung by Molly Sterling - will be performed on Thursday night's second semi-final.) Later Live… with Jools Holland (10.00pm BBC Two) features Simply Red and Joan Armatrading, while Super Garden continues (8.30pm RTÉ One.)

Ireland’s Molly Sterling does the honours on Thursday, but tonight the countries taking part are: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia and The Netherlands. Marty Whelan, as ever, brings you all the snippets, the gossip and the Interesting Biographical Facts.

Joining Jools on the show are south London's bass merchants Rudimental performing tracks from their upcoming second album, the follow-up to their best-selling Mercury- and Brit-nominated debut, Home. Celebrating their 30th anniversary, Simply Red play tracks from their first new album in eight years, Big Love. North London rapper and grime artist Skepta does his breakout tune, Shutdown, and legendary singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading (pictured) also performs.

Super Garden

8.30pm RTÉ One

In episode five, Zaneta Olszowy (pictured below) takes over 29-year-old Niamh Kelly and 32-year-old Sean Redmond’s garden in Beaumont. The young couple were looking for a social garden to entertain friends and family. The garden is the largest garden even made over in Super Garden history and Zaneta rose to the challenge creating a contemporary design for the young couple with a strong design eye.
