EastEnders wins top Soap Awards

The British Soap Awards 2015 took place last night (Saturday May 16) and EastEnders was named as Best Soap.

The awards, which took place in Manchester's Palace Theatre also saw EastEnders pick up many of the other big awards on the night including Best Storyline for Who Killed Lucy? and for Best Single Episode for their Live Episode 5020.

Adam Woodyatt not only walked away with the Best Actor gong for his performance in EastEnders but he and his co-star Laurie Brett won the Best On-Screen Partnership Award for their roles as Ian and Jane Beale.

And that's not all, another EastEnders native, Kellie Bright was awarded the Best Actress award, for her role as Linda Carter and the Best Dramatic Performance.

Villain of the Year went to Jeremy Sheffield for his role as Patrick Blake, in Hollyoaks and Best Comedy Performance went to Sally Dynevor who plays Coronation Street's Sally Webster.

Outstanding Achievement was awarded posthumously to Anne Kirkbride who played Deirdre Barlow in Coronation Street.
