Armando Iannucci, co-creator of Alan Partridge and writer of Veep and The Thick of It, is planning a film satire of Russian dictator Josef Stalin.

The Guardian reports that Iannucci will adapt Fabien Nury’s acclaimed graphic novel The Death of Stalin for the big screen.

Nury's 2011 novel charts the chaotic days following death of the Soviet dictator in 1953 and the unravelled of his regime.

Iannucci has previously directed In The Loop, a movie version of the scabrous political satire The Thick of It, and he was also executive-producer of the 2013 Alan Partridge movie, Alpha Papa.
