Long-running US shows Grey's Anatomy and Castle were renewed last week by ABC, and the network's president Paul Lee is keen to see both run well beyond another season.

"[It's] not the final season of either," he told TVLine. "And I would like to see them run for many, many years to come.

"They're both powerful, vibrant brands with incredibly passionate audiences."

Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion recently signed up for an eighth season of Castle, while Grey's Anatomy survived the departure of Patrick Dempsey in a shock plot twist.

Agents of SHIELD, How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal and Nashville are among the other ABC dramas picked up for the 2015-16 season.
