Slade play Dublin's Vicar Street December 6, but without original vocalist Noddy Holder who left the band in 1992.
Back in the 1970s, the Wolverhampton group enjoyed six UK number one hits, including Mama Weer All Crazy Now, Cum on Feel the Noize and Coz I Luv You.
Holder may have departed decades ago, but Slade are still led by founder members Dave Hill and Don Powell. Their new lead vocalist is Mal McNulty and they are joined these days by ex-Mud bass guitarist John Berry, who regularly played the Big Issue seller in EastEnders.
Holder's second memoir, The World According To Noddy, was recently published in its paperback edition. A previously-published autobiography was entitled Who's Crazee Now?
“We never got into the drugs scene," the former Slade front-man told the Irish Examiner in April. "I don’t know whether it was to do with our upbringing and where we came from in the Black Country."
He said Slade had a working-class ethic, worked hard and played hard. "We were big party animals, but we knew when to stop.”
Tickets are available for Slade's show in Vicar Street via Ticketmaster.
