Irish literary magazine The Stinging Fly is running a second intensive daytime workshop designed for writers of short stories and/or novels.

Led by Sean O’Reilly, author of the acclaimed novel Watermark, up to ten writers will be offered a place based on work submitted by Monday, May 18.

During the workshop, each writer’s work will be up for in-depth discussion twice. All the work will have been shared and closely read in advance. Also included in the structure of the course are three sessions on aspects of narrative prose by guest speakers, including the editors of The Stinging Fly.

The workshops take place from July 6 to July 10, from 10.15am to 4.30pm at the Irish Writers Centre in Dublin.

The cost is €325 (or €300 for Irish Writers Centre members). The summer fiction workshop is offered in association with the Irish Writers Centre and is supported by Words Ireland.

Interested parties are asked to submit either a short story or a novel extract before 5.00pm on Monday May 18.

The first Stinging Fly workshop - Monday June 22 to Friday June 26 - is now fully booked. The Stinging Fly first published Mary Costello’s much-praised debut collection of short stories, The China Factory.
