Iona, the new drama starring Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Love/Hate's Ruth Negga, is to receive its world premiere and close the Edinburgh International Film Festival on Sunday June 28.
Directed by Scott Graham, Iona is described as "part coming-of-age story and part returning-home drama" and follows the titular character (Negga) as she returns to her birthplace namesake with her son to seek refuge from a violent crime in Glasgow.
Shot entirely on location in Scotland, Iona also stars Tom Brooke (The Boat That Rocked), Michelle Duncan (Atonement) and newcomers Ben Gallagher and Sorcha Groundsell.
