The axe has fallen on US sitcoms Marry Me and About a Boy, both of which have been cancelled by NBC.

Casey Wilson and Ken Marino's comedy about a couple on the verge of marriage has fallen after just a single season, while Jason Katims's adaptation of the popular Nick Hornby novel, starring Miinie Driver, lasted for two.

Marry Me – which currently runs on Tuesday nights on RTÉ2 - was the latest television comedy from David Caspe, who created Wilson's ABC sitcom Happy Endings.

Caspe and Wilson were married ahead of Marry Me's premiere, and are currently expecting their first child.
