Neighbours star Tom Oliver, who has played Lou Carpenter for 27 years, is cutting back on his workload on the Australian soap and will only make guest appearances.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 in the UK said that while Oliver would "not be appearing as regularly on Neighbours, [the] good news for the many Lou Carpenter fans is the producers have persuaded him to continue to do guest appearances".
"He will be returning later in the year to film a significant storyline," they added.
