The film from Juno writer Diablo Cody follows a woman (Streep) who lost her family while chasing her dream of being a rock star. She is given one last chance at stardom and to make things right with her estranged family.
Streep's real life daughter Mamie Gummer plays her character's daughter Julie in the film, while Sebastian Stain plays her son Josh.
Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) directed the film which is scheduled to be released on August 7.
