Avengers: Age of Ultron has topped the US box office after taking in $187 million in its opening weekend.
This makes the blockbuster sequel the second highest opening film of all time, just behind the first film in the superhero franchise, The Avengers.
Worldwide, the film earned $627 million, and in only 12 days has surpassed the global earnings of Captain America ($371 million), Thor ($449 million), Iron Man ($583 million) and Iron Man 2 ($622 million), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
